The Bobby McGee’s are one of the contenders for Xfm’s New Music Award and need your help to get through to the shortlist phase.

    Vote for Jim and El. I did, but I’m not sure an American vote counts. I like their stuff a lot…even if I couldn’t really see us playing on the same bill together.

    phew…. Jan 22nd was seeming pretty far away. I’m glad they let you out for a moment…. swiss blood…is that as good as swiss chocolate?

    We have no way of winning this….some of the other bands have million dollar record companies behind them….we recorded the album ourselves in a shed that we built and kitted out ourselves and had it released for us by the lovely tiny wee record label CHERRYADE which is basically a blind girl and her boyfriend in a bedroom in Manchester…no way unless every beardy git in the UK votes for us & every ukulele player in the world!!!!

    The album title came from an interview I did with a French/German TV station ARTE….instead of the usual questions about my beard & my fave’ bands they asked “So Jimeeee, how does the relationship you have with your father affect your music?”…and…”How do you feel about the bourgoise appropriation of folk music?”….they were amazing…every time I gave them a daft answer, they just kept filming and asked me again until i was honest!
