Internet Ukulele Video of the Year: Make Your Nominations

What’s your favourite ukulele video of 2007?

Next Saturday I’ll be launching a vote for the best online ukulele video. Here’s your chance to nominate up to five for consideration for the final vote. The ones with the most nominations will go forward to the big vote (if there are no clear leaders, I’ll make an arbitrary decision).

Rules:

– Only videos recorded specifically for online viewing are eligible. No DVD/TV rips. No live gigs.
– The ukulele must be the primary instrument.
– Videos must have been recorded and uploaded in 2007.
– Videos must be publicly available online.
– Maximum of five nominations per person.
– Post your nominations in the comments.
– Nominations close midnight Friday 11th January (Hawaii time).

Here are my five:

Jeremy Warmsley’s Ukulele Session (Le Soir)
Waitswatcher – Hoist That Rag (YouTube)
Hailey Wojcik – Bad Modern Art (MUD)
Bosko & Honey’s Fingerpickin’ Love In (YouTube)
Sweetafton23 – Toxic (YouTube)

Man, it was difficult narrowing it down to five. I have to give honorable mentions to Mark Occhionero’s demonstrations and Aldrine Guerrero’s Iamhawaii videos.

Get nominating.

I don’t have a list of five but I’d very much like to put a gentleman named Eric into the mix.

He’s in his late sixties, lives somewhere in the UK and I really like him.

I blogged about him when I found him on some other site (can’t remember the name offhand) but since then he’s busily put up over 50 vids on YouTube.

He goes by ukuleleric and my fave of his (so far) is La Mer by Charles Trenet.

  13. JCMcGee January 8th, 2008 1:45 pm

These are the best uke videos of last year, I know this for 2 reasons:

    1. I made them
    2. They are not cover versions

a/ “Kill Yourself” filmed as one shot in only 2 takes…also features the best origional ukulele duet of the las 40 years:
    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=K1ojFGBco5w

b/”A Dog @ All Things” written, recorded and filmed during a snowstorm in Wales in Feb 07.

though, got to admit that cover of Debaser is pretty great!
