Silent Night (Single Note Version)(Tab)

Silent Night (Single Note Version)(Tab)

MP3

Since it’s Christmas I thought I’d let you take a break from the tricky arrangements and I’d put up a couple of single note arrangements (along with easy chords) of a couple of Christmas tunes. For kids, newbies and people too drunk and bloated to play anything more complicated.

Suggested Strumming

Like a lot of Christmas songs, it’s a waltz so I’m using:

d – d u d –

If it’s too easy for you, you can try to play the very tricky all harmonics version. Or you can split the difference and play the middling version in How to Play Christmas Ukuele.

Nice of you to think about the not so talented, Al.
I bought your copy of How to play Christmas ukulele and I discovered some really nice tunes I didn’t know.
    Great work as usual !
    Thanks !

Thanks for helping us get motivated to face the holiday cheer, Al. Without the music, I just don’t know how the season would be tolerable. Seriously.

The Christmas Tabs e-book is amazing. Unfortunately, it was the only of the e-books I didn’t get printed out before our laptop crashed earlier this year. I was able to play many of the songs in the book last year. Too bad I fell out of practice! That’s what I get for leaving Christmas music just for December.

    Armelle: Thanks!

Lonna: You should have let me know! I’ll email you.

I’m having a heck of a time with these. I’m playing with a DGBE tuned Baritone and, sadly, having a very hard time transposing any of these ‘Easy’ songs. Are there any resources or tips you could recommend? I’m fairly new with the Uke, although I’ve been playing guitar for a year. Not everything translates between instruments, but it’s a good foundation.

    Thanks

hey mann… well. im a newbie out of those choices and this question seems pretty bad haha but how do you strum the down-down up down while picking at the same time?

  9. Woodshed June 7th, 2010 9:36 pm

Sean: Just add five frets to everything.

Flint: This is meant as a duet. One uke does the picking and one does the strumming.

I have the basic notes down, I don’t know how you add notes around the basic note.
Your example sounds like the real song, with the chords.. and mine are just the basic notes. How can i get it to sound like yours?

I am looking at this tab and I’ve read the “How to read tabs” tutorial, but I can’t figure out what is going on in this pdf. There are lots of dots but they don’t seem to match up with what is being played in the mp3
