I can’t discuss Stephin Merritt songs without it descending into me reeling out quotes from the song. So, I’m not even going to try to resist.

As the album version doesn’t have any ukulele, I’ve tabbed the live version (from the show you can download here. If you want to play along with the album version, put a capo on the second fret, tune up to aDF#B or transpose the chords up two frets.

Wonderful. I’ve been waiting for someone to tab out this particular song ever since I heard it, so many thanks. I might use your tab as a starting point and lay out a song sheet with all the lyrics for my ukulele group; I’m sure most of them haven’t heard it before. And I’ll credit you, obviously.
It should sound really great with a uke group. I refuse to believe that anyone who plays the uke isn’t obsessed with Stephin Merritt. What’s wrong with these people?

Heh- actually the whole album version works fine GDEmC, if you’re a girl singing in a girl register. I took the finger picking advice from your previous gothic archies post and I do the 2nd verse picked through. An incredible achievement for a plodding left hander. So thanks again.
I posted a version with the full album lyrics to my site; it takes some condensing to fit on one page, but it should be easy enough to follow.
