GUGUG/The Ramones – Blitzkrieg Bop

GUGUG – Blitzkrieg Bop (Chords)

I’ve had this one written up and been intending to post it since the Ukulele Video of the Year (I think it was my favourite, still can’t decide), but I finally got a kick up the arse when it was featured on Boing Boing yesterday.

The chords to the song are very simple – there are only four of them – and this would make a great uke group song.

GUGUG are, as usual, tuned up half a step to G#C#FA#. If you want to play along with them, you’ll have to do likewise or put a capo on the first fret. If you’re just playing by yourself, there’s no need.

you could also use A,D,and E instead.

  12. Woodshed May 18th, 2011 9:51 am

Andrew: Yeah, you could. Same chord sequence, different key.

  13. Aiden May 19th, 2011 1:57 pm

    Don’t think i’d choose to do an E if i didn’t have to :P

  14. Woodshed May 21st, 2011 7:54 am

Aiden: If you’re playing in the key of A, you could probably get away with E7.

Thanks, i’ll try it until i get better with my Es and Bs

I think I’ve figured out some of the strumming.
When you strum the non-muted parts, the C chord is strummed like so:
    v v ^ v ^ V
The F chord is strummed downward twice, and as for the G (or C) chord, I’m not sure. It sounds like they’re strumming it three times, but I don’t know in which directions. So I just strum it downwards twice, and let it ring out a bit.

    I hope this helps.
