The Beatles – Come Together/Day Tripper

I’m breaking my ‘no Beatles’ rule once again for this post. There’s no denying that they came up with some great riffs and these are a pair of humdingers.

Come Together

The Beatles come together ukulele tab

Seeso did a top version of this song. That’s a great example of how to fill out a riff to make it work as a full song on the ukulele. But for our purposes, I’ve stuck with the simpler single note version.

Day Tripper

The Beatles Day Tripper Riff tab

For this tab, I’ve taken advantage of the re-entrant string and barred my first finger across the third fret after the first note. I use my thumb to pick the G and C strings, my index finger on the E string and middle finger on the A string.

Creepy, I was just listening to Abbey Road and saw this blog post. Weird coincidence, eh? Also, you get bonus points in life every time to you link to Seeso.

Jimmy- I listen to Abbey Road all the time anymore. It always works.

Woodshed- sweet! I’ve been working on seeso’s tabs just this week (thanks, seeso) and I always like to have a couple of different tabs to look at. I find that really helps my learning process.

I must admit, I rarely listen to The Beatles anymore. I had a phase in my youth where I listened to very little but The Beatles and I think I burned myself out on them.

Thanks for the link, Uke Hunt! :D

    Seeso: You’re welcome, as always.

    Dude: Thanks for the link.

Why on earth would you have a No Beatles rule in the first place???

  8. Woodshed May 24th, 2008 8:46 am

Andrea: Because there’s plenty of Beatles ukulele stuff on the internet already.

Thanks for THAT riff, ‘Shed… at the Portland Uke Fest they call all the local folks “Day Trippers…” So, this year I’m coming armed and ready! I’ve got a real reason, for taking the easy out, yeah.

Have a great time at PUF, p9000.

  11. poophead April 22nd, 2009 4:34 am

what do the loops under the 5 and the 7 mean????

  12. Woodshed April 22nd, 2009 11:41 am

    poophead: They’re hammer-ons.

  13. Jason Goldberg March 12th, 2010 5:59 am

i have a few questions. when there is a number with a U or ) turned to the side without a number after it, what do u do? hammer on to nothing?
also, when it goes 3-4,3, 3 that last 3 seems very out of place or atleast sounds out of place. correct me if im wrong

this is in regards to day tripper

  14. Someone who knows what he's talking about April 7th, 2011 10:04 pm

Come Together sounds awful and day tripper is wrong. this site is total bullcrap. I could find better material underneath my shoe. Poophead: Hammer-ons means you slide from 5-7.

    Day Tripper goes:

    – 3-1
    – 3
    -0-3-5

Besides, what kind of a rule is a no-beatles rule? If this site had beatles, then I would come here 24/7. This is an embarrassment to all ukulele players

[…] the comments: It turns out I misled you in my Beatles riffs post. A Mr ‘Someone who knows what he’s talking about’ kindly pointed out my mistake: […]

    “…this site is total bullcrap”

Maybe it’s my age but why are some people so damned rude on the internet. I’ve got a lot from this site (and others) and the e-books have helped enormously in my immensely enjoyable learning experience. There is of course some stuff that doesn’t appeal, so I turn the page. Generally a great site so keep it up Woodshed.

    Thanks
    Simon

  17. Foinnse April 9th, 2011 3:17 pm

I’m with Simon. Fine, a mistake was made, and fixed. Get over it. I have found this site to be very useful and enjoyable too and am a regular reader for the last year or so.
In regards to the No-beatles rule, who gives a crap, there is tabs for the Beatles all over the net, there is even a blog devoted to Uke covers of the beatles. It is an area well and truly covered!!

    Just my 5 cents -F

  18. JohnnyS April 9th, 2011 9:14 pm

Hey, Al “Somone who” might know music, but his civility skills are wanting. Like Foinnse, I’ve gotten a lot out of your site, and thank you for all your time and effort. You sure ain’t doing this for the big bucks. Keep up the good work, and remember: “Nil Bastardi Carborundum!”

  19. snojimbo April 10th, 2011 4:19 am

Now why is it that “Someone who knows what he’s talking about” wants to be so rude about pointing out an error? I’d have thought that if you do indeed know what you’re talking about you wouldn’t need to be looking on this website in the first place. Start your own, maybe. Be as rude to your own contributors as much as you like. Maybe s/he should try to Give Peace a Chance and chill out a little. Still love ya work, Woodshed.

  20. Woodshed April 10th, 2011 8:44 am

I may have been a little too subtle with my sarcasm. If I thought I made a mistake, I would have changed it in this post. His version certainly isn’t correct.

  21. Billy April 10th, 2011 10:09 pm

alright site. but what you said about there being enough beatles on the internet isn’t true. there is only one site that’s any good that is completely devoted to Beatles, but that site doesn’t let you download its songs or copy/paste them. plus, the rude mr. someone who knows what he’s talking about is actually right. and if he’s wrong, well, i played both versions and they sound the same. the only difference is the fact that his version is easier.

  22. Woodshed April 11th, 2011 8:05 am

Billy: You do realise I know you’re the same person as ‘Someone who knows what he’s talking about’, right?

  23. Foinnse April 11th, 2011 10:39 am

    Hmmmmmm…..Sorry, I didn’t pick up the sarcasm!
Oh well, I’ll leave the beatles to it for the moment I think. I know a couple of simple beatles songs and thats enough, I have other stuff to be learning! :D

I love it. Someone who is both rude and dumb. Who’d have thought that both could go hand-in-hand? Maybe Billy is the type of person who says bad things about his boss on Facebook, forgetting that he made his boss a friend 6 months ago.

  25. Someone who doesn't know what he's talking about April 12th, 2011 10:03 pm

Sorry about that. I was really mad that day, then tried to make up for it. I realize how stupid it is to apologize on a comment, but it’s the least i can do. I’m also making excuses for spazzing on the internet then trying to cover it up. Anyways i like your site and i think it’s great that you’re encouraging people to play the ukulele.

  26. Foinnse April 13th, 2011 3:37 pm

Hmmmmm….sounds genuine. I say fair play to “Billy” or whoever you might be. I advise spazzing out on a larger more anonymous site next time! :) Youtube is great for that type of thing! Random arguments with strangers, nice. :D

  27. Snojimbo April 13th, 2011 9:11 pm

Nice apology Billy, never an easy thing to do. And on that note (no pun intended) I’m sorry for suggesting you’re dumb, too.
