Saturday UkeTube: PJ Harvey, Melissa Polinar
March 28, 2009
Warning! One of these videos autoplays – I couldn’t figure out a way to stop it. But it isn’t on YouTube and I like it. It’s the first one if you’re desperate to stop it.
Revenge of the cute ukulele girl this week with Melissa Polinar looking to be on a collision course for Boing Boing (excellent song choice as well I think). PJ Harvey looks more ill each time I see her.
Tricity Vogue – Thank You for Giving Me Something To Write About
PJ Harvey & John Parish – The Soldier
Melissa Polinar – Beyond The Blue Horizon
Aileen Stanley & Johnny Marvin – Red Lips Kiss My Blues Away
Kenneth Smith – My Budgie’s got Chirpies

I wasn’t desperate to stop the Tricity Vogue song – I liked it and listened to it twice- funny stuff! Melissa Polinar’s Beyond The Blue Horizon was very nice. I liked some of the other videos/songs(Rawukes, Wildwood), except I couldn’t get through the whole PJ Harvey video.
Back in the day, I saw Kenneth Smith premier the My Budgie’s got Chirpies song live in Sydney at a BUK (Balmain Ukulele) meet. Good to re live the antipodean times not that I’m back in the Scotchland. Libo rock is a crackin’ tune – I always like it better without the vocals.
Re: above
I should also point I’m not the Emily who frequently posts
Tamster: I know what you mean. PJ Harvey has a lot of benefit of the doubt with me. I’m going to give it some more listens before I make up my mind entirely.
Emily: All Emilys are welcome here. You’ve commented enough not to call yourself ‘the other Emily’.
Thanks for the tip o’ the hat!
Ol’ PJ is looking like she needs a few weeks’ vacation and a couple of good meals… I hadn’t heard anything of hers since Exile on Man (yes) Street…
You’re welcome, Jake.
I’d like to see some tabbed out chords for Melissa P.’s “Blue Horizon” cover. Great voice Melissa … I’ve listened to it several times.
Featherocks: I might do that. I think it works really well on the uke.
I really like Jake Wildwood’s song, but then I always like his stuff – one helluva talented guy! Think I like the PJ Harvey too
J-Hob: Still can’t come down one way or the other on the PJ Harvery track.
Just back from seeing that PJ Harvey one live. Very nice it was too!
