Saturday UkeTube: Watercolor Paintings, Cousin Alice
April 18, 2009
Three old videos from people recklessly making great uke music without tagging it to make things easy for me: Watercolor Paintings (who aren’t, as I first thought, covering Mirah), Cousin Alice and Charlot Webster. Along with plenty of more diligent ukers.
One uker who didn’t make the cut is Aaron Carter (who is now, apparently, successfully wearing big boy pants).
Watercolor Paintings – Telephone Wires
Cousin Alice – The Weather Song

In case anybody likes Joseph Ho’s “Isa Lei”, the tab is in Mark
Nelson’s “Fingerstyle Solos For Ukulele” book.
That Kevin Loh’s a bit good!
Al,
thanks for puttin’ on the broonzy tune!!!
gonna have to come back and check out the rest, but I absolutely loved the quirky (yet very melodic) tunes of the watercolor paintings and charlotte webster…..
cousin alice made the banjo uke sound very classy and smooth….
and the mambor musicians were great!!! loved the harmonies!!!
cheers,
todd
Tamster: It’s an excellent book.
J-Hob: Not bad at all.
todd: You’re welcome. Keep ‘em coming.
Some great vids in this batch, especially Watercolor Paintings.
Good stuff. And speaking of Watercolor Paintings, are you still going to do a monday exposure of Lost Sound Tapes?
Seeso: I’ve was humming that song all weekend.
Minamin: I said what now? Sorry, must have had a brain-spazz – don’t remember that at all. I’ll get on it.
Many thanks Al for featuring my video of Isa Lei. It’s an honour to be associated with such excellent musicians. I feel a little out of my league.
My best wishes to you.
Joseph
Love that WCP video! We (Lost Sound Tapes) are releasing a Watercolor Paintings/iji split 7″ in about a month or so. Just sent it off to be pressed a few days ago. It’ll be ready in time for our 2 month long summer tourrrr.
Also compiling a new ukulele compilation soon. If anyone sees this and wants to submit a song, feel free to email me! lostsoundtapes@gmail.com
