London Uke Festival 2009
May 27, 2009
The London Uke Festival is shaping up to be a really fun event. So much so I’ve been tempted out of my lair and will emerge, blinking into the sunlight, myself. As much as I know so far: Joe Brown is going to sign three ukes for charity, Pete Howlett will be making a uke from scratch in one day, Will from UOGB will be there (whether that’s in his official capacity I don’t know).
The event will include a mass ukulele world record attempt with, hopefully, more than 500 people strumming Sloop John B. The event will raise money for Cancer Research UK. If you’d like to sponsor me, you can register your donation on my Justgiving page. And please do because I want to win at charities raise some money for a good cause.
You can register for the festival here and if you’re planning on going, let me know.

Can the lazy amongst us just turn up and play? Registering seems a bit of a faff, as bone-idle as that sounds.
I’m going
i think the registering is for the record attempt isnt it,
i did a world air guitar record at a status quo gig once and we had to sign to say we were going to join in
I just registered! looks like fun, will be travelling down from the NorthEast for this.
I’m coming down for it as well. I’m really looking forward to it!
Best of luck in your fundraising, glad to help out. The Sloop John is a fun drinking song, surprised it is popular in the UK as well,
Please register.
It lets us know where we are with numbers and we can tell you all the stuff that is happening as we count down to the day…
Its like your name and an email and that is it…
Done it. I can’t wait to meet Roy Castle……………oh.
Iain: So long as the McWhirter twins are there, I’ll be happy.
krabbers, Justina and Jen: See you there. If you see me, come and say hi.
Art: Thanks very much for your support.
Quincy: Congrats on getting it all together.
Man, my job won’t allow me to take summers off which means I can never visit the UK. Only crazy people visit in the cold months, right? Unless I get a new job or miraculously get time off, the London Ukulele Festival and any opportunity to meet Al are hopelessly out of reach. le sigh. :)
Emily: I don’t think the English winter should hold any fears for an Alaskan. And your beard should keep you warm.
