Bobby McGee’s, Sara Watkins, Bill Tapia: UkeTube
June 6, 2009
A very tough job sticking to my 10 video maximum this week. Those that the survived the ruthless cull include The Bobby McGee’s, a couple of performances from the NY Uke Fest, Sara Watkins and Tom Allalone.
You might notice Zoe and Jodi wearing prototype Ukulele Hunt shirts. They’re still at the testing stage – I don’t even have them myself yet.
Sara Watkins/Nickel Creek – Different Drum
Ukulele Bartt and Bill Tapia – Little Grass Shack
Tom Allalone and the 78s – Casillero Del Diablo
Ukulelezo – Earworm into my Heart

All of Bill Tapia’s appearances at the ukefest were awesome, but my favorite is Bill playing Heart and Soul with the Prewar Ponies.

The Bill Tapia and Bartt video was fun…..
liked the Steven Strauss/Sand song very much
Zoe’s got a cool knack for chord progressions for sure…..she’s a sharp songwriter….
loved how the half sister’s tune picked up/changed…nice ‘n’ quirky…..
yup…….good picks for sure….thanks Al,
cheers,
todd
The Bobby Mcgee’s song is fabulous, but Cemetary Polka took my breath away! Wow!
Dan: Thanks for the link.
Todd: There were a whole load of Steven Strauss videos uploaded this week. Very hard to choose just one.
Aimee: Agreed! Waitswatcher has been away from the Waits instrumentals for far too long.
All were great especially the Bobby McGees, Steven Strauss (very mellow sound from that uke), Waitswatcher and Tripping Lilly (who kind of reminded me of Nickel Creek).
That CHIPSWOW girl is ace….her BRONSKI BEAT cover is fantastic:

& The Half Sisters are one of my fave’ new bands….incredible.
Tamster: There are definitely some similarities between Nickel Creek and Tripping Lily. Both very stylish and skillful bands.
Jimmy: She keeps getting better all the time as well. I just wish she’d sing in French though.
