Kaki King, Will Grove-White: Saturday UkeTube

Stop the (Word)press: Todd has put up Ukulele Hunt jingle. No doubt I’ll be mentioning that a few times.

This week’s most interesting video is a loose ukulele jam from, guitar virtuoso, Kaki King. She does some incredible things with a guitar, so it’ll be interesting to see what she ends up doing with a uke. It’s also heartening to see that someone as dexterous as her can sometimes be completely cack-handed.

Also this week is Will Grove-White (of the UOGB), a couple of blinding covers from Sophie Madeleine, a bit of Django and some Ukuyeye. But my favourite this week has to be Daddy Stovepipe. How any ukulele girl could resist his charm?

Daddy Stovepipe – Ukulele Girl Blues

Sophie Madeleine & The Sailor Jerrys – Goody Goody

Seeso and Lisaxy424 – Your Precious Love

Sophie Madeleine – Don’t Think Twice It’s All Right

Kaki King – Ukulele Jam

Will Grove-White – Just Wanna Die

Literallies – Snowdrift

Thanks to Tinyfolk for that one.

Eskimo – Too Soft

Thanks to Armelle for that one.

Gypsy Ukulele – Django’s Minor Swing

MsUpies – Laisse Tomber Les Filles

Even though the song was simple, Snowdrift was amazing!

The ukulele hunt theme song was cute! Two questions though, where’d he get that sweet shirt? and what is the little bluesy progression that he ended with?

    Thanks much!

I like Todd’s Ukulele Hunt Jingle. The flute and uke sound great together in the Gypsy Ukulele video although the shaky camera was annoying. Fun song from Sophie Madeleine and the Sailor Jerrys.

Well, well, seems a new ukeslinger just rode into town. Somebody call the undertaker, we got dead bodies
of (one-time) uke stars about to pile up. Just put ‘em on
    Kaki’s tab.

Mary: Agreed. But that video does make them seem a bit like a cult.

Tuscadero: The shirts are on their way.

todd: I think he was wearing that same shirt and the London uke fest.

    Armelle: Thanks!

ronhale: Yeah, if she takes it up seriously James and Jake will have to watch their asses.

    William: She is exceptionally good.

Thank you for finding that Kaki King video! I’ve always loved her on guitar, and it’s so great to see she’s playing the ukulele too now.

Michelle: It is good to see. I’ll be really interested to see where she goes with it.

I’m amazed that people can walk past them or sit behind them and not be awed by that performance!

I’m referring mainly to the Gipsy Ukulele Video.

Ron: I remember reading an article about a famous violinist who went busking and mostly got ignored. Something Bell… *Goes to look it up* Joshua Bell. The story is here.

Got something to say?
