The Leisure Society, Amelia Robinson, Rusty Cage – Saturday UkeTube

October 3, 2009

I very much enjoying Charlie Brooker’s new show GamesWipe this week. The highlight of the show was a ukulele-featuring song/game review by Rebecca Mayes. I do hope that’s a regular feature.

Also this week are rib-tickling videos from Amelia Robinson and Ben Lerman (whose song is definitely NSFW), The Leisure Society, some hapa-haole a beautifully sung version of Blue Moon and a couple a tracks by Rusty Cage (I hope that’s his real name).

Rebecca Mayes – MadWorld Musical Review

Amelia Robinson – Swine Flu

Rusty Cage – Cocaine Blues

Eunice Keitan – Blue Moon

Craig Robertson – Wrong’s What I Do Best

The Leisure Society – Love’s Enormous Wings

Miss Lauren Marie and Combo Mahalo

Ben Lerman – My Name Is Ben Lerman

Systeryster – Change

Rusty Cage – Blast Em

Really enjoyed this Uke Tube, Al !
Rusty Cage is brilliant and the Swine Flu video by Amelia Robinson is both funny and great.

Superb collection, Al! Far and away the best UkeTube selection of the year so far.

Igor: Thanks for your contribution last week.

    Armelle: Glad you enjoyed it.

Acilius: I wouldn’t say, “far and away,” but it might be the best.

That version of Cocaine Blues is really cool – I hadn’t heard it before. Do you think you could publish chords for it sometime?

I found a guitar tab for a different arrangement on Ultimate Guitar, but it still sounds nice. As the verses for that version end on a G, you can play the descent to the next part as 0232/0121/0010, which is nice and easy.

Never heard of Cocaine Blues before, heard just Cocaine by Clapton tho. I like the riff at the beginning, I was playing it C, A7, D7, G7.

curious: I may well give it a go. Haven’t got a uke with me at the mo’, though.

    Byjimini: Thanks for that.

Anybody know what kind of uke Rusty Cage is playin? I really like the sound of it in this last vid. Great selections of videos this week, thanks, as always.

Dustin: The one in Cocaine Blues is a Lanikai LU-21T. No idea on the baritone in the other video.

Hey this is cool I didnt know i had a video on this site! This version of cocaine blues is a rendition of Luke Jordon and Dick Justice. There is an instructional video of David Bromberg teaching it on guitar on youtube.

RustyCage: Thanks for your contribution. Excellent stuff.

Here’s a link to the David Broomberg video for anyone who is interested.
