I recently saw Brandie Carlile in concert and they opened up with the uke number. She’s got this AMAZING voice, and put on a great show. Glad to see it on the site! -Amber

…What a selection!!!…I love The Coral cover, and a really ingenious video…that old uke, melodica, double bass combo again, awesome…I’ve been dreaming about getting an 8 string but the Izumi vid’ has thrown the six string into the mix…Oh what to do…I know, get both!…and then the resonator…then the baritone…then the banjo uke…UOGB for me on friday, BRING IT ON!!!

Many thanks for posting my latest, Al. It’s a thrill to be there alongside such fine talent. Wonderful variety, too.

  4. Woodshed October 10th, 2009 9:38 pm

Amber: She does have a stunning voice. I’ll have to check out more of her stuff.

Nick: At the moment I’m tempted by a Uklectic and an effects board.

    Tim: Thanks for you contribution.

  5. Bossarocker October 10th, 2009 9:47 pm

Wow, a bumper selection. You are the best uke site on the net!

  6. Woodshed October 10th, 2009 9:59 pm

Bossarocker: Thanks, but all credit has to go to ukulele peeps of the internet.

The Tuesday, Oct. 13, Ukulele Noir is the release party for
Craig’s new CD, Under the Mystic. Psychic Hamster Records
just sent me an email yesterday saying they were shipping it, but it’s not listed on their site yet. Sent them an email & left a comment at
Ukulelia asking for clarification. In any case, it’s only a few more days until it’s official.

I really liked The Side Street Steppers music! Cheers, Igor

  9. Krabbers October 11th, 2009 12:48 pm

Thanks for spreading the word on brandi carlile. I have been following her since 2006

  10. Byjimini October 11th, 2009 2:30 pm

    Great performance from Exoticorn there.

  11. Nick Bardy-Chivor October 11th, 2009 3:00 pm

…yep, that Pete Howlett certainly knocks up some fine looking instruments…I’ve watched the whole series Uklectic building vid’s on youtube…his attention to detail is something else…I wish I had the cash…

  12. Annie October 11th, 2009 3:23 pm

That Herman fellow is off the chains!
    Thanks for another great uketube.

  13. Woodshed October 11th, 2009 3:56 pm

ron: Thanks for the info. I hear Craig is planning a European tour. Very exciting.

Igor: Me too. The Asylum Street Spankers do a top notch version of that song as well.

Krabbers: Looks like I’m late to the Carlile party.

Byjimini: Excellent. I hope he’s going to be posting more soon.

Annie: That’s a new expression on me. I like it.

  14. Kelly October 11th, 2009 3:58 pm

I looooooooove Brandi! I bought the new album and heard this song and got so excited about the uke and Brandi being together! Thanks for posting this. The Brandi song sounds very Beatle-tastic to me.

  15. Ron Knaus October 11th, 2009 5:31 pm

Great stuff; enjoyed them all and especially Rocky and Balls on Lovecake. Looney Tunes

  16. Craig Robertson October 12th, 2009 1:41 am

The new CD “Under the Mystic” will be up on the Psychic Hamster website on Tuesday the 13th of October. The “official” release date.
Sorry if there is any confusion.

  17. Woodshed October 12th, 2009 7:25 am

Kelly: Well, that about settles it. I’ll have to write up the song.

Ron: I didn’t think that was one of their best. But still pretty great.

Craig: Thanks for clearing that up.

  18. Alan October 12th, 2009 3:37 pm

I love Craig Robertson’s version of “Half over you”.
    C&W on the uke! Great!
Jeez I must be getting old!

    Alan

  19. Acilius October 12th, 2009 3:43 pm

Another great selection, Al! Well done as always.

  20. Craig Robertson October 12th, 2009 3:44 pm

Alan; Thanks! but I just consider it a good song. George Jones has been there, and, better yet, he took notes.

You don’t have to be old to like C&W. My 13 year old daughter likes some of the songs.

  21. WIUO October 13th, 2009 11:43 am

Thanks for including our silly little vid. We had too much fun making it. If only you could hear the ‘real’ soundtrack… “More bubbles!” “More kayak!” “Someone pick Megan up!” “Nigel – hot water bottle!” etc etc. Loving what you do, as always. x WIUO x

  22. Woodshed October 14th, 2009 4:37 pm

Alan and Craig: I love country. But I’m definitely getting old.

    Acilius: Thanks.

WIUO: James Cameron did the same thing when he made Titanic.

  23. Craig Robertson October 14th, 2009 4:43 pm

Woodshed: Over here in America, it’s not “hip” to like country and rock and roll or folk at the same time. Why??? Who knows?

Although Jack White produced Tammy Wynette’s last CD. so there.

  24. Jessica October 19th, 2009 3:33 am

Ahhhh!! I love the Brandi Carlile one! I’ve never heard of her before! Thanks for sharing!

  25. Woodshed October 19th, 2009 6:51 pm

    Jessica: Another Brandi lover!
