Coqui Reca, Helen Arney: Saturday UkeTube
October 17, 2009
This week’s picks includes Argentine ukulele from Coqui Reca, Max the Ukulele Punk Rocker being his usual calm and restrained self in hospital, Craig Robertson playing with the lights on, Aaron Keim doing a suspiciously complicated “two chord” song, Dr Dre remixed and plenty more.
Thanks to Will for alerting me to that one.
Aaron Keim – Old Skin and Bones
Max the Ukulele Punk Rocker – Please Stay
Dr Dre – Still D.R.E. (Ukulele Mix)

Another great selection, Al! I wouldn’t have wanted to miss any of them. Though I must admit I’m surprised that none of the videos from the Corktown Ukulele Jam that TorontoUkes uploaded the other day made the cut. If you haven’t had a chance to look at them yet, I particularly recommend Sunny Widerman’s cover of “Levon” and Zoe Henderson’s original “Cryin’ in My Sleep.”

Is there anyway some one could figure out the chords to Solito Solo?
Thanks and I love the site! I’ve been playing for about 3 years, but just found this site like last week! Fantastic and thank you.
Al, somehow I’ve missed that Polish ukulele video. Thanks for sharing it !
Acilius, thanks for prolongating the Saturday uke tube with the Corktown Ukulele Jam. I quite liked Nick Tustin’s Glory of Love.
Armelle: I’m pleased to be of service!
Personally disappointed that that last youtuber made the sensible decision not to make the “I Will Remember Uke” pun.
I love Craig Robertson! :)
[...] week’s uketube video of the week is by uketreehugger, who plays and sings a beautiful rendition of Sarah [...]
Acilius: I did watch a few of them but none of them really did much for me.
Max: Thanks for the kind words.
Armelle: Thought that one might catch your attention.
Carrie: What sort of idiot makes the uke/you pun?
Aimee: Me too.
There were a total of 25 new video clips uploaded on the Corktown Ukulele Jam (torontoUKES) channel last week – a significant undertaking that involved a huge amount of effort and generosity on the part of all involved, performers and organizers alike. What a shame that 25 performances were evaluted on the subjective merit of “a few”.
stevius: Are you seriously suggesting I should watch every single ukulele video that’s uploaded to YouTube?
Woodshed: no. but I do suggest that writing off 25 on the sense you got from a few is unfortunate.
stevius: I agree it’s unfortunate I can’t watch all of them but I fail to see what choice I have.
Woodshed: well, the bottom line is that you are doing fabulous work and amazing job of tracking the ukiverse as we know it. Cheers and thanks for that. Keep on keeping on!
Great selection! Helen Arney is definitly funny! Thanks!
Marcelo: She is. I hope she does more uke songs soon.
@Stevius: I agree that the bottom line is that Woodshed is doing a fabulous job. Not many people do as much good for as many people in full-time, high-paying positions as he does putting this site together. We owe him a huge debt of gratitude.
As for the Corktown Ukulele Jam, well, why not set up a site of your own and post about it there? I posted some of my favorite Corktowners on my site.
Lets see if Max want to know the chords of solito solo.
Just give me a call on coquireca.com
