Half Man Half Biscuit – It’s Cliched to be Cynical at Christmas (Chords)

Half Man Half Biscuit – It’s Cliched to be Cynical at Christmas (Chords)

My Christmas present to myself is to finally put some Half Man Half Biscuit on the blog.

I was going to evangelize about HMHB, but they’re really a band you either love or don’t understand at all. Listen to Joy Division Oven Gloves and Bob Wilson, Anchorman. If you don’t get it, move along.

New to me. By your into, Al, I was expecting something truly outre that would polarize people, but what I heard was (for me, anyway) pretty straight -forward stuff, and very nice. And not only is it cliched
to be cynical at Christmas, it’s become tiresomely tiresome. Humor, especially in an off-beat way is always welcome, but it’s way past time to put the cynicism & irony behind and just savor the season.

…Once I started pondering what the remaining 1% of gargoyles look like…Right where did I put that equilateral chainsaw?…

…Yet again Woodshed comes up trumps…

“We’re just like other bands, but different”

please go ahead and evangelize. This is my fave post since The Fall ones.
    Thanks Al, Merry Xmas.

(and if you feel like doing a Half-Man, Half Biscuit uke book, I’m first in line:)

todd: They don’t make it over to the US very often (or ever).

Craig, Ron and Rob: I’m a little amazed that anyone outside the UK would like HMHB, I’ve always considered them to be very parochial.

sarah and Nick: Don’t start me quoting HMHB lyrics, we’ll be here all day.

Jimmy: Is there anything that girl can’t do?

Rico: No book but I did tab out a bunch of them on Ultimate Guitar.

I get it. This made me smile. Thank you.

Hi Woodshed, i’ve been a fan of your tidy site for a long time – very happy to see some HMHB, nice one! I reckon Joy Division Oven Gloves is a nice beginner tune on the uke.
    Festive wishes

    Yes! HMHB!

I’ve been doing a (shambolic, drunken) video series of HMHB covers for the last few weeks. Latest is on the tenor uke – If I Had Possession Over Pancake Day

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRTBNmG1xjY

It’s in G, C and D, obviously enough, as is a hell of a lot of HMHB stuff.

    Tom: You’re welcome.

Lady T: I reckon so. I wrote up the chords to it here.

    Jason: Nice one!

Got something to say?
