    And what about France?

  2. kiwafruit March 11th, 2010 12:52 am

    Yay – Go BUMS! :D

You forgot about MUK – the Melbourne Ukulele Kollective (and their garishly retina-burningly bright site http://www.muk.com.au/index.html) who hosted the MUF (Melbourne Ukulele Festival) last month.

And apparently there’s a uke group in Wellington, New Zealand? I saw it on Facebook somewhere…

Oh, and I think the address for Ukulele Canberra in the Map might need fixing?

    Thanks Al and Claudine :D

  3. terry priest March 11th, 2010 7:32 am

Both are directed by my good self and are evolving. Contact through my website (www.thesumoftheparts.com.au)

Does this mean it all gets on the official list?

    Thanks for your good work!

    Mark.

Formed in 2004 we are known as SSCUM – St George and Sutherland Community of Ukulele Musicians. We meet on the first Monday of each month at ‘Tradies’ club in Gymea at 6:30pm. Visitors, players or beginners all welcome. Recent guest performers have included members of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Brittain, Ralph Shaw, Jim and Liz Beloff, Jim D’Ville, Bosko and Honey, Cameron Murray. Future exciting artists booked.
We would be pleased to see our club included in your listing. Many thanks – John Chandler.

  47. iinka August 2nd, 2012 5:11 am

    Heya All,

Just moved from London to Canberra and am keen to set up a uke group here! I miss the fun of Ukulele Wednesdays at the pub on TCR! There is already URoC, but im looking to set up something a little more relaxed than URoC, with beer, and free lessons & support for newbies, and a wider variety of songs. Obviously not on a night that clashes so that people can go to both if they wish. If you’re interested, drop me an email leigh.bradyUK AT gmail DOT com.

If I get *any* expressions of interest I’ll get it going! :)

  48. John Chandler August 2nd, 2012 6:18 am

    Hi iinka
There are also TUGS down there based in Tuggeranong.

Just letting everyone know that we have a small group of enthusiastic Uke players in Melton Victoria. We gather under the name MUSE (Melton ukulele and singing ensemble). We meet every Tuesday evening (except during School holidays). We have been going for nearly three years starting with about 5 foundation members, we now number about eighteen if everyone attends. Always happy to welcome more to the fold.

  81. Ginger May 10th, 2014 6:57 am

Me again! I’ve been updating my uke groups page for fellow ukers embarking on a 3 month camper van round trip Hobart/Cairns. I found a number of groups who have public websites (Yahoo, Facebook, etc) haven’t listed a contact phone number or email address on their sites (not that I could find, anyway!) and consequently, to make an enquiry requires joining the website. When travelling joining multiple websites is not something one always wants to do. So…I’m asking if groups could include a contact on their site for travellers to make a quick enquiry before arriving in your town/city. Thanks…Ginger

  82. Woodshed May 10th, 2014 1:42 pm

Ginger: Thanks very much for the updates. And have a great roadtrip!

  91. Peter van der Stam February 20th, 2015 1:10 am

    To whom it might concern,

I am wondering why so many club are only to be contacted via “Facebook”
I hate facebook, because as soon as you have an account your mailbox is flooded with crap of people wanting to be your friend.
I can find my own friends without facebook.

SO please Ukelele clubs, make yourselves known without this so called social media.
I want to play the thing!
    Cheers Peter
    Willoughby, Sydney

  92. Ginger February 20th, 2015 12:26 pm

@Peter van der Stam. Couldn’t agree with you more! So…to get past the problem I opened a totally fictitious FB account. Wrong name, gender, birthday, place of birth and place of residence. (FB says I was born in Guyana and live in Jersey!). I opened the account over a year ago now and have only had one friend request from someone, of course, I don’t know…as no one can know ‘me’! I get no other messages…except from the 2 friends from the other side of the world that I have let in because they cannot/won’t contact me any other way. Just a thought!

  93. Vanessa February 21st, 2015 12:14 am

@ Ginger and Peter van der Stam. I find FB to be a wonderful tool to connect with like minded uke people. You can completely control all incoming emails and friend requests. The delete button is your friend. What is the alternative on the www? Any thoughts?

  94. Barbara February 27th, 2015 12:09 am

Wanting to know if there is a uke club in Hervey Bay/Maryborough region. Wanting to join and learn. Am having no luck finding one locally

  95. Ginger February 27th, 2015 2:25 pm

@Vanessa, hi, our uke group uses a free Yahoo groups site – https://au.groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/h-u-g/info. Members have access to all our songsheets for download, a post facility, a database for EOIs in activities, a photo section, a membership list, an event calendar, a reminder service which can be set up for regular reminders (e.g. our monthly open mic night) and a facility for polls. Non-members can view our information, including contact details, on the front page without joining. I often get emails or phone calls from travelling users who just want to drop in on their travels. There’s also WordPress which looks good although I haven’t used it…yet! Cheers…Ginger

  96. Ginger February 27th, 2015 2:34 pm

@Vanessa. Hi again. The friend request is one of my biggest bugbears with FB. If it comes from someone you know slightly…a friend of a friend maybe…it feels churlish to deny even though you know the request is simply to bump up their ‘friends’ numbers. It’s the main reason I opted out of FB under my real name. (Even my son, who knows my false FB name couldn’t find me!) Also, forgot to mention, at Yahoo Groups, members have the option to receive posts individually, as a daily digest, or not at all and just view posts on the website. We have a number of interstate and overseas members who just like to keep up with what we’re doing &/or access our songsheets. Leave you be now! Ginger

  97. Vanessa February 27th, 2015 10:58 pm

Thank you Ginger. Your information is much appreciated.

  98. Ginger June 24th, 2015 4:20 pm
