Charlie McDonnell – This Is Me Medley (Chords)

Charlie McDonnell – This Is Me Medley (Chords)

For some reason, TV is convinced the way to win viewers is to parade a shower of idiot bell-sticks before us. Whereas the more democratic world of YouTube is dominated by people who seem very nice and sometimes even intelligent. And the nicest and most subscribed of all (on these shores) is Charlie McDonnell. And like all, like, cool people the ukulele is his favourite instrument and he inspires his friends to play. In fact, I think I get more, “I started playing ukulele because of…,”s about him than anyone else.

He also had the smart idea of playing every song from his album at once. Which makes my job easier because I can fulfil all requests in one go.

That the was the plan, anyway. Looking at it now, I think it’s more likely to create, “Can you write up all of…” requests.

Buy it on iTunes or from dftba.com.

Tobuscus Theme

Mid-tro of H2 tags.

While we’re on the subject of vloggers, here’s Toby Turner’s d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-do subscribe bit suitably transposed for uke.

Bless you and bless your face. Peace off. Boop

Just to start the “can you write up this song ?” queries : The Monkey Song !!

    (Love your website)

Well, I’m with you when it comes to Charlie,
Al. Doesn’t he have a video up in which he
creates and then drinks a highly dubious milkshake? Seem to recall seeing one.

However…Do you really think YouTube is dominated by nice, intelligent (even if only sometimes) people? Perhaps you should stray further afield from the fields in which you stray, then.

I don’t want to be annoying, but could you pretty please write up ‘This is Me’ because it’s a nice song, and sorry for asking, and I know its annoying, but please?

  4. Bekki January 26th, 2011 10:01 pm

Thank you so, so much for the Tobuscus theme song! I’ve been looking all over for that.

  5. Kirstin January 26th, 2011 11:46 pm

What are the strumming patterns for these songs? Sorry if I’m being annoying, but I’m a beginner :(

  6. Lyndsey January 27th, 2011 10:36 pm

WHOO! Good idea tabbing this out. Not only is it free publicity for Charlie McDonnell but also you get the benefits of knocking out (how ever many songs are there) with one stone. Genius! Good work…as usual of course.
    :D
P.S. even though I’m like a week late, GLAD TO HAVE YOU BACK AND POSTING FROM YOUR BREAK!

Beatle and Nellyington: I knew it!

Ron: Care to name any names?

Bekki: Glad to hear someone was after it. Sometimes I put stuff up wondering if anyone cares.

Kirstin: Sorry, not going to go through all the strumming for this one.

Lyndsey: Thanks. It’s good to be back. I’ve missed doing it.

Haha. This explains why you were looking for uke-related Vlogbrothers videos.

Wish my roommate wasn’t here, or I’d whip out my uke and start learning this.

Thank you so much for writing these up! Although… if you are ever in a dr who mood again (i know this is unlikely) could you do the big bang 2?
    Thanks!

  10. Woodshed February 2nd, 2011 10:25 am

Tally: Yeah, thanks for your help with that. I’d have had Hank down as a big-time uke player.

Xavvi: I need to write up the Dr Who theme at some point, so who knows.

    Hi Woodshed :)

I was just wondering if you could please post the chords for ‘Bread’ by Charlie?

    Thanks!

  12. Haole March 28th, 2011 5:16 am

    Hey Woodshed,

Quick inquiry on the chords. For D you have it labeled 1114, but the actual chart shows 2225. G, Bm, and E also have similar inconsistencies. I fiddled with it to see which version sounded better, but I’m sure a couple people didn’t notice and are playing the wrong version. Just a heads up.

Also, this website is the best one I’ve found on the ukulele, and I suggest it to every uke played I know. Keep up the great work!

  13. Woodshed March 31st, 2011 2:33 pm

    Aliuke: Probably not, I’m afraid.

Haole: The numbers under the chords refer to the fingers you use rather than the frets. There’s a guide to reading chord charts here.

    @Ron Hale
Yep! It’s called ‘The Charlie-Shake’,and a mighty fine video it is too, if you’re into people eating disgusting things…

Charlie is awesome, but i was wondering if down the road you could put some of fellow youtube mates stuff on here. i would especially appreciate “the world is mine” by alex day, or really anything by tom milsom. i know they aren’t very well known yet, but im sure many would enjoy their music. thanks :D

  17. Woodshed January 2nd, 2012 11:24 am

ashley: I’m not a big fan of those two, I’m afraid. So short of a mass outpouring, probably not.

  18. Fretzle January 15th, 2012 2:42 pm

I’m definitely not trying to annoy you but do you but do you have an idea of the chords he uses for the entire “this is a song about a song”. It would help me out a lot. :D
