Winnie the Pooh – Little Black Rain Cloud (Tab)

Little Black Rain Cloud (Tab)

With the new Winnie the Pooh film coming out featuring some Zooey Deschanel uke-work, I thought I’d tab up my favourite Winnie the Pooh song: Little Black Rain Cloud by Robert & Richard Sherman.

The biggest challenge in this one is all the moving up and down the neck. It takes a bit of practice to get it all accurate.

Oh man, way to smack my cynicism right in the back of the head. That was BEAUTIFUL! I mean, beautifully played, but what an awesome arrangement!

Would you ever consider posting these great songs in musical notation instead of in tab? I know it sounds dumb, but I just have great difficulty reading tab.

Also? It is a lovely, charming version of the song so thank you!

  5. Erong July 21st, 2011 7:17 pm

    Fantastic!! You are awesome.
I’m a strum-centric player, but I need to learn this one.

Pooh bear aloha style, very nice, thank you!

About Mia’s request, I’ve seen tab that has both tab and musical notation and I really like that too. I can read music for some of the other bizarre and misunderstood instruments I have played, but I can’t read music for uke yet. Having tab that has the notes too would be a great step towards learning. Anyone out there know a good program that can do both?

My two cents, speaking as one who reads music: Everyone has their own way of learning, but for me, it really worked better just struggling along with tabs until I got the hang of it. For a while it was really frustrating going back to square one on the music reading learning curve, but it was like riding a bike — I couldn’t quite get it and I couldn’t quite get it, and suddenly — I got it. The videos make pretty good training wheels when I got stuck. But again, that’s just me.

This was my second favourite song when I was 6. My first favourite was:

    “I’m so rumbly
    in my tumbly,
    time for something sweet
    to eat.”

    From the same artist. :)

i’m 21 and i still occasionally read winnie the pooh before bed.
am i immature? yes, Does that stop it being an excellent bed time read? not even slightly.
another example of excellent work mr woodshed.

Wow, this totally takes me back…I probably have the video with this song on it somewhere.

    I. Freaking. Love. You.

    Once again. Thank you.

  13. Mander Mae July 22nd, 2011 3:56 pm

Yay! The list of stuff I have to learn to play continues!

  14. CuteNFuzzy July 23rd, 2011 12:22 am

hey, may I ask what ukelele that is?

  15. Woodshed July 23rd, 2011 1:02 pm

    Alison: Good luck with it!

    Mike: Thanks very much.

mia and pepamahina: Part of the reason for the lack of standard notation is what’s fair. The tab is strictly ukulele – standard notation can be used for any instrument. I don’t want to cut into their sales of books for piano or whatever is released.

    Erong: Thanks!

David: I don’t think he ever got his due as a songwriter.

    cbf: And so you should.

Rebekah: Yeah, I was checking out a few of the videos online.

    Izzy: I love you too.

    Rob: You’re welcome.

    Mander Mae: Enjoy playing it.

    CuteNFuzzy: It’s a KoAloha Sceptre.

  16. Anya July 23rd, 2011 9:37 pm

The great part is that I remember all the words. :)
Thanks so much for tabbing this!

This song has been floating around my head since seeing it first in highschool, glad to see someone really made something of it… good work

  18. Woodshed July 24th, 2011 8:15 am

    Anya: You’re welcome.

    GlobalMargaret: Thanks.

  19. carreg wastad July 25th, 2011 8:20 am

sherman’s wrote the tunes for the jungle book. In my opinion much better than pooh.

    The tabs awesome though.

  20. carreg wastad July 25th, 2011 8:21 am

    Gramaar correction

the shermans wrote the tunes for the jungle book. In my opinion much better than pooh.

    The tabs awesome though.

  21. carreg wastad July 25th, 2011 8:27 am

are you playing the d7 at the fifth fret?

  22. Woodshed July 26th, 2011 8:53 am

carreg: I might have to agree with you on Jungle Book being better than Pooh (music wise). Some killer tunes in that.

The chords in it are just the harmony – I’m playing things as written in the tab.

  23. L.bo Marie August 1st, 2011 6:58 pm

I love when tunes can transport me back in time… thanks for that.

    printing it off!

  24. Woodshed August 3rd, 2011 10:15 am

    L.bo: Thanks, glad you like.

  25. Cathryn August 4th, 2011 5:09 am

  27. Allenfeather August 10th, 2011 3:39 am

I like how nice everyone is on this website! + I adore this little tune. :)

  28. Woodshed August 11th, 2011 11:49 am

Allenfeather: Hahaha! Most people are nice.

  29. Amanda September 29th, 2011 4:59 pm

Wood this is so beautiful, can I ask if there’s any possibility of a tabulation for other songs from the Pooh Corner movies/cartoons? My little force of nature just got her first uke and is a complete Pooh Bear addict.

  30. Juliane August 1st, 2012 4:13 pm

I absolutely LOVE this song!! It brings back the memories of the original Winnie the Pooh :) It is perfect for the ukulele and you play it beautifully. Thank you so much!

  31. Woodshed August 1st, 2012 10:49 pm

Amanda: No plans to at the moment but you never know.

    Juliane: Thanks very much!

  32. Lady Makespecial March 17th, 2013 7:46 pm

I love your site! I had a ukulele for two years before I picked it up. I learned everything I know from your site. The videos are especially helpful for seeing finger placement and the best ways to switch from chord to chord. Thank you!

  33. Woodshed March 17th, 2013 10:43 pm

Lady Makespecial: Thanks so much! Really glad you’re finding it helpful.

  34. spazzolino June 20th, 2013 10:56 am

sorry, im really not a pro, but why in the final part of the song I cant match the video with the tab? in the tab there is a
    3
    2
    2
    2
and in the video there is absolutely not! and it scares me O.o

  35. Woodshed June 20th, 2013 11:21 am

spazzolino: Looks like I’m using a different inversion of the same chord: 568x

    Both work fine.

  36. Yahoo June 27th, 2013 8:15 am

Dam dim dum dam dim dum driidiidi…

  37. Rachel September 23rd, 2014 4:39 am

    i can’t hit a 12th or 13th fret note comfortably on my travel soprano… any suggestions? ;)

  38. Woodshed September 23rd, 2014 2:27 pm

Rachel: The 13th fret notes you could ignore entirely. The 12th fret notes are a bit more integral though. I’m not sure what to do about those.
