With the new Winnie the Pooh film coming out featuring some Zooey Deschanel uke-work, I thought I’d tab up my favourite Winnie the Pooh song: Little Black Rain Cloud by Robert & Richard Sherman.
The biggest challenge in this one is all the moving up and down the neck. It takes a bit of practice to get it all accurate.
Oh man, way to smack my cynicism right in the back of the head. That was BEAUTIFUL! I mean, beautifully played, but what an awesome arrangement!

Would you ever consider posting these great songs in musical notation instead of in tab? I know it sounds dumb, but I just have great difficulty reading tab.

About Mia’s request, I’ve seen tab that has both tab and musical notation and I really like that too. I can read music for some of the other bizarre and misunderstood instruments I have played, but I can’t read music for uke yet. Having tab that has the notes too would be a great step towards learning. Anyone out there know a good program that can do both?
My two cents, speaking as one who reads music: Everyone has their own way of learning, but for me, it really worked better just struggling along with tabs until I got the hang of it. For a while it was really frustrating going back to square one on the music reading learning curve, but it was like riding a bike — I couldn’t quite get it and I couldn’t quite get it, and suddenly — I got it. The videos make pretty good training wheels when I got stuck. But again, that’s just me.
This was my second favourite song when I was 6. My first favourite was:

mia and pepamahina: Part of the reason for the lack of standard notation is what’s fair. The tab is strictly ukulele – standard notation can be used for any instrument. I don’t want to cut into their sales of books for piano or whatever is released.

carreg: I might have to agree with you on Jungle Book being better than Pooh (music wise). Some killer tunes in that.
The chords in it are just the harmony – I’m playing things as written in the tab.

Wood this is so beautiful, can I ask if there’s any possibility of a tabulation for other songs from the Pooh Corner movies/cartoons? My little force of nature just got her first uke and is a complete Pooh Bear addict.

i can’t hit a 12th or 13th fret note comfortably on my travel soprano… any suggestions? ;)
Rachel: The 13th fret notes you could ignore entirely. The 12th fret notes are a bit more integral though. I’m not sure what to do about those.
