Here Comes the Sun (Harp Ukulele Version)

Since I put up two videos played on my aNueNue harp ukulele I’ve had a steady stream of tab requests. Strange since most people requesting them don’t even own one. My arrangement of Albatross wouldn’t work on a standard ukulele. But my version of Here Comes the Sun certainly could.

It works so well on ukulele I was convinced it was written on one. It uses a capo on the 7th fret of the guitar which makes it the same tuning as a D-tuned ukulele (George’s favourite) and fits just fine on four strings. But according to Eric Clapton in the George Harrison documentary it was written on guitar.

For the harp version I’m tuned as aNueNue suggest with the bass strings as C, D, E, F and the uke strings in low-G tuning.

Here’s a slightly adapted version for a standard tuned ukulele. Use D-tuning or slap on a capo at the second fret if you want to be in the same key as the original.

    This is really nice–you’re right, it does feel perfectly suited to the uke. The only tricky part is bringing out the melody notes (especially on my Vita, which gives the low notes a TON of resonance).

    It honestly warms my heart to see you playing that happy tune all snuggled up with that thing…maybe even a little half smile sneaking out of there? Looks like you finally got that harp you really wanted in the first place. Congratulations my friend, and thanks for sharing.

    I think this is GCEA the second tuning is probably for the harp portion of woodshed’s awesome toy.

    Lovely – I will try it on my Jay Buckey HarpUke – though I normally have it tuned highG, I’m sure I’ll find a way round it.

    Whilst I’m in begging mode can you do the HarpUke tab for Albatross sometime? please??

    Allan: If you use combine the standard tuning version of the tab with the bass notes it should work out well.

    If I can work up a standard tuned version of it I’ll get the harp version written up as well.

    Cheers Al, The JayBuckey has 6 bass strings, so it shouldn’t prove a problem, can have both high and low G at the same time ;)

    this is a Paul song. They all carried a ukulele when they traveled. I’m 12 and I knew that.

    Just reading through people’s comments. Cassie Tucker, are you saying that ‘Paul’ wrote this song? Have a look at your Beatles books and figure out what’s happening. As for whether Clapton was right, he was there! It was his garden! Harrison was skiving & went to visit. A happy accident of one amazing riff.
