Emeli Sandé – Next to Me (Instrumental Tab)

Emeli Sandé – Next to Me (Tab)

The Olympics coinciding with Adele’s maternity leave certainly worked out well for Emeli Sandé.

My mum requested this one. I wasn’t intending to tab it so it’s pretty messy and busked together. I’d recommend you using this as a basis rather than copying it exactly.

Some pointers:

Bars 1 to 4: Picked with thumb on the C-string and index on the E.

Bar 5: For the first three notes here (and in the same phrase in the rest of the song) I’m doing a bit of a triplet strum. I strum down all the strings with my index finger, then I play the g-string with my thumb, then I pick the A-string with my index finger.

Bars 5 to 21: Other than that, it’s almost all down strums in this section. I’m even strumming rather than picking the single notes.

The ones in brackets are backing strums – play them a bit quieter.

Bars 22 to 26: This bit is a nod to the drums-only section of the song. Back to thumb on C and index on E.

Bars 32 – 39: In the, “you’ll find him next to me,” bits of the song I’ve had to fudge the melody on the “next” because it goes down to a B. For this final few bars I take this section up an octave so I can include the B. You could use this version all the way through but I thought the switch in octaves was a bit too sharp to do that.

Al — Thank you for sharing so much. This tab has me curious about how it will sound. But I have to work now. You have such musical instincts/knowledge and I wondered — were you born into a musical family? Were you raised around music?

    A.C.: No. None.

Jeff: No, not a musical family at all. Didn’t even have records playing much. It’s kind of you to say, but I’m not a natural musician at all.

Hi, first of all, I must say that I love your blog, it was helpful when I started to play ukulele ’cause Mexico doesn’t have much information/websites about ukulele, so thank you so much.
Well, I don’t know where i must to post that, but I want to ask of you can tell me the chords of this song, is called ‘Aventurera’ performed for Natalia Lafourcade, a lovely mexican girl who’s introducing ukulele in the mexican scene music. I just try to get them by ear, but I’m not really good, so I have: D#, D7, Em and C (?), but I can’t find the 2nd chord she plays, I think she plays 5th fret 2nd string, 4th fret 3th string and 5th fret 4 string but it sounds weird, so if you can tell me the chord, I’ll be really thnankful. Greetings. (Here’s the video of the song:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgWszqU2ZiQ ).

Alexzz: I think the second chord in the verse is:

    g-string: Open.
C-string: 5th fret (four about the capo)
E-string: 4th fret (three above the capo)
    A-string: Open.

    Can’t download melody version.
Not sure if problem for others or just me?

Probably a stupid question; do you take requests?

matthew: Hmm, seems to be working for me. I don’t usually do requests (unless they’re from my mum).

Hello, Been wondering and googling how to figure out the meaning of the slide (it seems) on the tabs. It starts on the 5th bar 3rd note down theres the upside down parentheses which to me seems to indicate a slide but into what notes? I’m new to uke so still learning the basics of reading tabs. Great site by the way! Definitely helped me go beyond the basics.

Zain: They’re ties. So you hold the same note for the length of the notes combined.
