Frank Sidebottom: Friday Links

Bobbins. Frank Sidebottom died this week. You know he did. He really did.

I pity the fool that doesn’t know how to play Kashmir on ukulele. Or what power chords are.

Very interesting interview with a ukulele collector on Collectors Weekly.

Frank Skinner does a Formby-esque tribute to the vuvuzela.

Kina Grannis’s ukulele has been nicked.

John Hodgman ukes it up with Neil Gaiman and Damian Kulash.

Ukulele china bags.

MP3s: Mates of the State are giving away their Daniel Johnston cover (there is uke in it, just wait), No Modest Bear have a track from Lille.

Pictures: new ukulele painting from Amy Crehore, new member of the Bobby McGee’s? #011 ukelele.

zym: I know that! What do you take me for? I was wondering if you had actually done the ending in one of your videos. I thought that was the most likely contender.

    Kieran: Hmm. Possibly.

    What ho Woodshed!

How about a uke version of “Everybody Sings Queen”?

ooh! Someone has already done it but I cannot quite make out all the chords for it. I reckon this could be a great song for ukulele groups all over the world!

You’re welcome Woodshed; I thoroughly enjoy your site (in fact, all I know about playing the ukulele comes from uke hunt).

    I’m A Blackpool Fool…Frank Sidebottom

    It’s British C Summertime,
And now that I’m responsible at G 35,
I’ve set out on my own – free to roam
    A bit like Indina Jones
    C And I’m F feeling quite G7 alive.
The F North-West coast is calling me
    (But I C can’t say what
be Am cause this is a family LP)

Oh! I’m on my way to F Blackpool!
I go there every C summer as a rule.
    I lodge in G B&B…
    with evening tea
For C free with my F Auntie G7 Edie.
Oh, I’m on my way to F Blackpool!
I don my coat and C shirt
and summer shorts to keep me cool.
    Cos’ G I’m a G7 Blackpool C fool.
    Yes G I’m a G7 Blackpool C Fool!

    They’ve got a C promenade
With interspersed life guard G swimming belts
    For the benefit of paddlers
    Who wade too deep
    Require some instant buoyancy
    While C someone gets the
F coast guard out for G7 help
Oh they F don’t have sharks
    They do have oysters
But C I myself prefer Am whelks

    Chorus
