Ibanez are the latest guitar company to jump on the bandwagon with their range of ukuleles.
Mel Bay have a new dedicated uke site which includes a chance to win a Kala travel ukulele.
Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain at the Proms (it may or may not be available where you are).
The film industry seems to have been overtaken by ukuleles recently. James Franco serenaded Julia Roberts with Jen Kwok’s ukulele. She’s also going to be ukeing in the film. And Zac Efron plays uke in his next film as well. Whilst Russell Brand ukes in his skivvies (thanks to Heather for that one). But they can’t do it like the old-school stars: Buster Keaton and Ukulele Ike duet on one uke.
Humble Baritonics is a new blog from Jeff searching out baritone ukulele tabs online.
One to avoid: PlayAUke. Yeah, it’s for charity. But charging for this is just ridiculous. Chapter one is six lines of writing and 3 Julia Nunes videos. And it doesn’t get any better.

It’s not often I feature two videos by the same person in one week, but I’ve made an exception for Izumi. I’ve moaned about the bland, easy listening nature of most modern Hawaiian music before, but I love the traditional stuff. The Hawaiian yodel is one of those love-it-or-hate-it sounds. Personally, I think it’s beautiful and Izumi’s voice is incredible.

Musicguymic boasts that the Kiwaya KTS-7 Mahogany Soprano Ukulele, “has the tone and sound rivaling any Martin ukulele. In fact I think its sounds more like a Martin should than many vintage Martins do.” There’s no doubt it’s as good looking as the Martin Style 3.
Custom uke with a soundhole on the side. I like the look of ukuleles without a frontal soundhole, but how do they sound?A cavaquinho with a nicely carved head.
Ukulele Tone-Gard: The idea is that they keep the uke away from your body letting it ring out more clearly. They’re more common with mandolins (as their not entirely changed description makes clear).

400 kids and Jack Johnson attempt to break the record for most ukuleles played at once. See the video evidence here. The record may not last long. From what I can make out, the Yokohama Hawai’i Festival are planning to have 1,000 people ukeing at once this weekend. 
Someone should tell the San Diego Ukulele Festival – they’re attempting to break the same record but only had about 300 visitors last year.
Oscar Schmidt (Washburn) are releasing six new ukuleles including this reproduction of the 1920s bell ukulele.
