Beirut – The Akara (Tab & Chords)
February 3, 2009
Surely it’s no coincidence that the standout track on the new Beirut EP, March of the Zapotec is the most uke-heavy. The EP isn’t out yet, but The Akara has been spreading on the MP3 blogs.
The uke only part of the track goes like this:
The rest of the song uses these same chords:

YO I’M SEEING BEIRUT TOMORROW.
Bringing my uke, he better sign it.
I’m so excited. SO EXCITED.
Nelson: Dang! I’m jealous. Have a great time.
Just thought I’d tell you.
The new album is available for download from iTunes!
(not sure this is right but I’ve got it!)
Best track so far la llorona
Thanks woodshed for all you mate!
Thanks very much, Daniel.
Hey, great tab, but I think on the last 3 chords you should be playing the first string on the first fret, not the third. I don’t know the chord names but it sounds better. Plus, in an interview on youtube, Zach is playing this song on what looks to be a fluke and he doesn’t have his pinky finger down on the 3rd fret. I’ll try to transcribe the last 3 chords somehow in this box.
1 1 1
1 1 0
0 0 0
1 0 0
Adam: Thanks. I’ll check those out.

I was at this show. “East Harlem” is an instant classic and I can’t wait to learn it.
You can see how he plays the chords in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQg6fOBaXTU
Notice he plays the first string on the first fret for the last 3 chords.
Adam: Thanks for the link.
Badger Dash: Thanks for the video. Sounds great.
Thanks so much Woodshed! All of your chords/tabs are absolutely fantastic!
Also Badger Dash, I was there too! And I got him and about half of the band to sign my ukulele afterwards, it was so brilliant!!! :D I think I may have creeped him out a bit though…I kind of assaulted him, haha.
