April Smith and Bess Rogers, Soul Covers: UkeTube Part 2
August 22, 2009
Part two of the UkeToob includes me giving the Uke Hunt kiss of death to four Shake Your Soul entries, Bess Rogers (who managed to drag herself away from the Boobie Bungalow for one night to join April Smith) and a couple of tributes to The Ramones. There’s also a version of First Day of My Life I picked up thanks to Donnie’s UkeTube replacement service. I have a number of instant rejections for consideration. And one of them is covering a blatantly obvious tune (which includes anything done by The Beatles, Jake or Julia Nunes). Which saves a huge amount of time but does mean I miss the occasional gem like this one.

The *Uke Hunt Kiss of Death*.
Those folks better watch out ;)
Glad you’re back, Al.
Lonna: Yeah, they can all kiss goodbye to any chance of winning now they have my seal of approval.
Some of the contest results just baffle me completely.
Aw crap, thanks a lot, Al. I really wanted that banjolele…
Sesso: That’s your comeuppance for not having Zoe win the hip-hop contest :P
Groovy selection !
What’s the brand of the Uke used by Lisaxy ???
Gil: I believe it’s a Mainland.
I’ll second that Mainland. I’ve been seeing those ukes in my dreams ever since I played one at the UWC.
‘Tis a Mainland – I love that thing! :)
Of course, it could use a friend…perhaps a BANJOLELE!?!? ;)
Damn, there are a lot of talented people out there. When I watch all these videos, it makes me even more excited about the idea of being a rhythm guitarist and fading into the background of some band.
Lonna: Have you stolen your hubby’s Mainland yet?
Lisa: I think I’ve killed your chances, I’m afraid.
Jodi: I find it hard to imagine you fading into any background.
