Via Tanya, Sophie Madeleine: Saturday UkeTube
November 14, 2009
After a bit of a male dominated week last week, the girls are back in force
I was originally going to post Via Tanya’s video for Wonder Stranger but the version she did for Shoot the Player. Also this week: Sophie Madeleine doing my second favourite song of hers for a Crypt session (watch the whole session in dazzling HD here), Victoria Vox previewing a song from her next album and plenty more.
Anna Van Riel – Einey Meiny Miney Mo
Mood Indigo – Swing Brother Swing
Jeff Warren and Miss Jess – I Ain’t Messin’ with You
Shelley O’Brien – You, Me and the Birds
Brenna MacCrimmon – yagmur yagar tas ustune

Something definitely right about an instrument so many women play.
Something definitely right about an instrument so many women pla y.
Whoops. No wonder it said “it seems you already said that.”
Alec: Is there an echo in here?
…echo in here?
I love all of these, it’s great you bring light to them for us =]
Loving the Paraskavedekatriaphobia song, made me smile, makes me wanna write my own quirky stuff and youtube it…
(youtube it…)
Jam: I enjoyed it as well – partly because I had a crappy day yesterday.
(… day yesterday)
…Top selection Al…loving all the laydees…especially Sophie Madeleine, wonderful…But Mood indigo, wow, that guy really gave that National Guitar a work out…was that a national uke…the bit that made me grin the most though, was that tiny dude playing that Big Assed Bass…
(…Big assed Bass…)

I’m glad to see Tally Deushane and Kaylee the Ukulele here- I’ve been following them since their debut a few weeks ago, and it’s impressive how quickly they’ve been coming along.
The guitarist with Mood Indigo is John Reynolds, a legend in the
Southern California vintage music/dance scene, & one of my own musical heroes. A regular at Maxwell DeMille’s Cicada Club in Los Angeles,
a good place to watch John’s awesomeness on the shiny National guitar & banjo is at clubcicada.com’s Broadcast Archive. Start with the Oct. 4, 09 & May 3, 09, Janet Klein & Her Parlor Boys shows, & the April, 12, 09, Rhythm Club All Stars show (as a member of the RCAS, he plays on their CD), but there are many other videos onsite that he plays on.
(…he plays on)
Love Rev. He is serious as a heart attack but totally charming.
Wow! Thank you so much for putting my song on here! This just made my day!
Lovely selection. I really enjoyed Victoria’s air trumpet :)
Yay to Shelley O’Brien and Victoria Vox!
Live2Tivo was great fun!
Nice selection! Thank you!
Woodshed, that would be nice though if you consider posting Sophie Madeleiene’s The Stars chords, how about it?
Nick: Yeah, I’m fairly sure it’s a National uke.
Todd: Oh man, you ended the echo joke (…echo joke.)
Acilius: She’s definitely got something.
Ron: Thanks very much for the info.
Jodi: And he can play a bit.
live2tivo: Thanks for your contribution. Keep them coming.
Emily: She’s really got that down. She should do it in every song.
PaulC: Yeah, you like Canadians. We get it ;)
Marcelo: Don’t be too surprised if it shows up.
(…shows up)
Great to see some Turkish folk on here!
Umm… Victoria Vox … Yan yelego in drag? No far too pretty!!
This mouth trumpet seems to be catching.
Sweet voice as well. I love it!!
Bossarocker: If there were more Turkish folk on ukulele, I’d feature it.
Alan: I’d say Victoria wins in the mouth-trumpet wars.
TWO cork-towners on one Saturday???
how lovely.
