Via Tanya, Sophie Madeleine: Saturday UkeTube
November 14, 2009
After a bit of a male dominated week last week, the girls are back in force
I was originally going to post Via Tanya’s video for Wonder Stranger but the version she did for Shoot the Player. Also this week: Sophie Madeleine doing my second favourite song of hers for a Crypt session (watch the whole session in dazzling HD here), Victoria Vox previewing a song from her next album and plenty more.
Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer, Plushgun, Luca Gemma: Saturday UkeTube
October 31, 2009
Most of the UOGB stuff that turns up on YouTube is DVD rips, which makes lizardonuke’s channel very refreshing with lesser seen songs and backstage shenanigans. As well as the UOGB, this weeks vids include Mr B schooling us, Lulu and the Lampshades going bandstand busking (watch the whole thing here), The Bobby McGee’s fighting off zombies, Plushgun making a video on the cheap, Peter Moss soundchecking, Luca Gemma with the UKEit guys and plenty more. Polka Dot Dot Dot, Zoe Lewis, Victoria Vox & BAS: Saturday UkeTube
October 24, 2009
This week’s must-subscribe channel is spankyukes. As well as being incredible strummers themselves, they roped in Zoe Lewis. Other videos include high slapping fun from Polka Dot Dot Dot (who seem to be keen hamboners), Victoria Vox hooking up with Boulder Acoustic Society, Ingrid Michaelson, Mad Tea Party and plenty more. Saturday UkeTube
October 11, 2008
There seems to be a Bushman/pirate theme developing: Krabbers and Jonathan Elder. In non-pirate videos this week: Victoria Vox, Old Blind Mole Orkestra, another killer from Toy Horses and the Ukulele Safari hits the UK. [Read more]
Maddi J, Evilhamster95, Elizabeth Darling
April 12, 2008
Videos from two quite sickeningly talented 12 year olds this week along with more gnarled and creased performers such as the New England Ukulele Orchestra, Aaron Keim, Victoria Vox and a bunch more.

This week there have been some worthy additions to stuff I’ve already mention with more videos from the Belgium UkeFest and Taimane at her family reunion. But this week has been notable for two strangely compelling performances.
f3rt – 4:33
[youtube sgtL_lNiRXs]
A note perfect rendition of John Cage’s defining work. The tune reaches a dizzying crescendo at 3:31 when he sighs a little. I love this tune so much I have it as my ringtone.
Ukulelia – Gsoffa wird halt Aberall
[youtube mHkd0rhZ5Yc]
It takes either bullet-proof chutzpah or staggering ignorance to call yourself ‘Ukulelia’. When I listened to this the first time it was painful. Then I couldn’t resist listening again. I spent the rest of the day walking around singing ‘Suda, Norda, Osta, Westa‘.
Victoria Vox – Peeping Tomette
[youtube -wQQgrxYYcw]
This clip has been up on MUD for a while now but it’s always worth listening to a mouth trumpet solo.
Amanda Palmer – Creep
[youtube Ek5ZNgw8Vdk]
Final proof that I am visiting the wrong bars. In all my years of bar propping I’ve not once seen a goth-girl with a flower in her hair stood on the bar strumming a uke. The closest was a senile farmer with sheep-dip in his hair who sang It’s A Long Way to Tipperary while lying on the pavement.
