Polka Dot Dot Dot, Zoe Lewis, Victoria Vox & BAS: Saturday UkeTube
October 24, 2009
This week’s must-subscribe channel is spankyukes. As well as being incredible strummers themselves, they roped in Zoe Lewis. Other videos include high slapping fun from Polka Dot Dot Dot (who seem to be keen hamboners), Victoria Vox hooking up with Boulder Acoustic Society, Ingrid Michaelson, Mad Tea Party and plenty more.
Polka Dot Dot Dot – Miss Restless
Victoria Vox and Boulder Acoustic Society – America
Erica Dreisbach – Way to the Sun
Alfred Williams – Trinidad Looks Like Wales
Big thanks to Armelle for that one.

good selection, but cant believe you missed Mr B?? – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6t28COxEp2k
Great stuff, especially Alfred Williams and Mad Tea Party. Almost forgot my swine flu there.
Erica Dreisbach manages to be charming and musical in spite of her self deprecation. Good song, well done.
…Very nice start to my evening…Erica should stop the self deprication, I wish I had half the uking and lyric penning skills she has…all the spanky Ukers were smashing, the spanky website made me weep, firstly laughing, the mad jingle,Genious, then my inability to afford kicked in, I am destined only to drool and cry into my sloe gin…If Wales had half the weather of Trinidad, my uni days would have been a little less damp…Cheers for this weeks installment Al…Bravo…
…I don’t want seem pushy, but Al, Did alfreds ditty remind you of Half man half Biscuit??…Chords…Dickie Davis eyes…please…
Loved (truly, madly, deeply) Mad Tea Party, & interesting that it led on Vimeo to (SF Bay Area’s own)Tippy Canoe’s Mass Transmissions video (same film maker), which I mentioned with last year’s video of the year nominations as being posted Jan. 2009 & thus not eligible, but will be one of my nominees in this year’s contest.
Of two minds with Victoria Vox these days. When she sings in French, I melt & when she sings in English, I yawn. And when she sings for 5:44 in English, I’m out cold. I’d love to see her cavort about like Ami in Every Way. I do hope, however, that as she drives across
America, she keeps both hands on the wheel instead of driving with her knees whilst playing ukulele.
Always nice to see a new video from Craig.
If Wales had half the ganga of Trinidad, Tom Jones would have been a Calypso star…
zym: Don’t worry. I saw your Tweets and what have you. He may well make an appearance at some point.
Paul: Get well soon!
Craig: Plenty more where that came from on her website.
Nick: Verse: D – G Chorus: A – D
ron: Tippy Canoe is one of those acts that I know I should like but have never really latched on to.
…Doh…That’s almost as simple as me…
Excellent collection for a Sunday spin around the Uke.
I swear to God when Victoria does that song live, it’s amazing. Like you are watching someone do what they were put on this earth to do. It just makes you feel good. And BAS: when I saw them live, they ended their set not with a bang, but by unplugging, getting off the stage, and doing an intense number on the floor in the audience.
Love Ami too, but she’s in a rockabilly band. VV is a singer songwriter. Folk music isn’t for everyone, that’s for sure.
Boz: Glad you enjoyed.
Jodi: Victoria has a great voice, no doubt. But I do love a bit (or a lot) of rockabilly.
Thrilled to see you post Polka Dot Dot Dot. They are AMAZING!
Erica: They certainly are.
