19 out of 30. Naming the brands killed me and recognizing the celebrities and covers was a mixed bag, but I got all of the notes and chords right.

  2. Karthik December 18th, 2013 7:07 pm

Got the chords and the notes. The last chord was tricky! (Until I strummed it. Never thought I’d see the day where it was easier to recognize an uke chord by ear instead of the shape.)

I’m not one for spotting celebrities, songs or Uke brands, though.

  3. mictoboy December 18th, 2013 7:40 pm

quite pleased, 23. My lack of popular culture knowledge let me down…

  4. kwokkie December 18th, 2013 8:14 pm

    16. Chords and Notes mainly. I didn’t know any of the celebrities. 1 of the lyrics, 1 of the covers, and I got one of the brand names wrong.

These quizzes are fun! Looks like I need to learn more songs/covers. (not caring about celebrities :-p)

  5. Hannes December 19th, 2013 8:04 am

18! Pretty impressed with that, wouldn’t mind harder chords in the future! (Maybe a min maj7?)

  6. Woodshed December 19th, 2013 8:37 am

    tjvonp: Well done!

Karthik: The last chord was tricky. I had to double check myself!

mictoboy: Congrats! You’re the top scorer so far.

kwokkie: Good idea not caring about celebs!

Hannes: I was thinking about it. I’ll probably include at least one tricky chord in future.

  7. ukuleleTim December 19th, 2013 9:58 am

Al, you are one of my favorite people. Let’s hang out.

  8. Paul December 19th, 2013 11:27 am

I got 23 too. I thought #6 was K***e & #8 was B***s B****r! I’m too embarrassed to share the other mistakes with you, but I did get right both parts of Q28!

  9. Neil Harvey December 19th, 2013 4:41 pm

OOOpps only 13, need to try harder!

  10. Janie December 19th, 2013 8:30 pm

    Good Test,I enjoyed!
I did well with the chords and not bad with reading
the tabs, one celeb, two songs, no ukulele picks correct. But not bad for playing only 3 months now!

  11. AlistairC December 19th, 2013 8:53 pm

My score was so pathetically low I am not even going to mention it! Spotted the great K Middleton though…….and the lovely Zooey of course. Bring on the next quiz!

  12. s2art December 20th, 2013 10:48 am

18 but unlike previous post-ers got more of the celeb type answers than chords and notes. Might say something about my ukulele abilities. Also got the brands right of the ones I could read. :-)

  13. Woodshed December 20th, 2013 11:26 am

Tim: That’s very kind of you!

Paul: Took me while to figure out who B***s B****r was! But they do look alike. Congrats on your gold star!

Neil: That’s a perfectly respectable score!

Janie: Well done! And happy playing.

    AlistairC: Better luck next year!

s2art: I glad someone got the celebs!

  14. Paul December 20th, 2013 12:17 pm

Well, tbf, I do have one of the mystery luthier’s sops :)

p.s., Forgot to wish you a Merry Chistmas in my previous post: Merry Christmas, Al, to you and yours!

  15. Ron Hale December 21st, 2013 2:54 am

    Well, let’s see, Al:

Any chords not in the key of C – don’t know them. Who needs them anyway?

Any celebs over the age of 45 (maybe Craig)- who are these people? A picture of Ian Whitcomb, now that I would recognize.

“Love is a burning thing…” Hmmm, sounds familiar, but can’t quite place it. Have to look it up. “Fiery ring,” catchy, I’ll give it that much. You should cover it.

And how about some “5’2,” “Ain’t She Sweet,” -type lyrics? You know, REAL ukulele songs.

John? I guessed Yoko. I bet I lose so many points I end up with a negative score. Hey, maybe she’ll pick up the uke. Start screaming.

End the third wave. Don’t think it couldn’t happen. I bet UOGB would cover her.

9th fret?!? Gasp…Choke… Air’s too thin up there. A man can say all he needs to say in three frets or less. With just three chords. And the truth. In the key of C.

No Mya-Moe? Way to go. I’d have made a point of missing it anyway. Called it Mahalo. Makala. Martin. Mele. Makai. One of those other “M” ukes.

    Oh, score. 24.

  16. Woodshed December 21st, 2013 7:01 am

Paul: And a very Merry Christmas to you too!

Ron: “5’2 was in last year’s quiz. And every other line of Ain’t She Sweet is, “Ain’t she sweet.”

  17. Jules December 21st, 2013 10:27 pm

Thanks very much for doing this again! Really enjoyed taking part!
However, a miserly 21 marks I’m afraid! Must brush up on my celebrity!
Enjoy Christmas-has Santa owt lined up nice for you?!

  18. Allan Gardner December 22nd, 2013 9:52 am

16 .. hmmm.. only one celeb, but that’s OK by me. Only got the make that I own. Had to admit the extra marks on the notes had me baffled until I realised they were bar marks and not frets.

Happy Xmas Al – but just managed to cut the end of my left index finger so will be having some withdrawal symptoms until after it heals.

  19. Woodshed December 22nd, 2013 5:11 pm

Jules: 21 is a very good score! Merry Christmas!

    Allan: Yikes! Get well soon.

  20. Mark December 23rd, 2013 8:42 am

19 – and that only thanks to rampant UAS. I still can’t see Daft Punk becoming classic uke fodder. Happy Christmas.

  21. Woodshed December 24th, 2013 12:05 pm

Mark: The Everly Pregnant Brothers do a version too so you never know.
