I got 17/30. Not bad for an oldie. Thanks for a challenging quiz. I enjoyed it. Merry Christmas . Looking forward to more from you in the New Year. Happy Holiday. Suzygal

  2. Jules December 18th, 2014 9:31 am

A miserable 14! Poor show this year I’m afraid, but thanks for doing it Al! Good fun as always. Regards.

  3. Ron Hale December 18th, 2014 10:24 am

23, for crying out loud. Cannot keep pace with
pop culture anymore, it seems, Al.

    Let’s see…

    4. Minor 7s and 6s are also major 9ths, I believe.
Refuse to ID it for fear of the dreaded fancy-pants
    points.

6.8. You do this every year. Free points.

    10. Used to see a lot of these in videos. Don’t
    any more.

    16. Oh, how adorable.

    17. Everything OK with MM? A Diana Dors
    uke photo would be nice.

    18. Who?

    24. Gag. Pity the poor ‘ukuleles subjected
    to this tripe.

  4. Micha December 18th, 2014 10:36 am

17 points oldie score too – I know ABBA, but never heart about Jessie J…

  5. Woodshed December 18th, 2014 12:11 pm

suzanne: Well done! And Happy Holidays!

Jules: No shame in that. I think this year is a little harder than some years.

Ron: Congratulations! You’re in the lead so far.

    Micha: Nice one!

  6. John December 18th, 2014 12:35 pm

I was probably in the 15-18 range.
Didn’t really count because I was peeking unfairly at the uke brands (I really don’t know many brands).
But isn’t the answer to 30 “Harry Potter?” Your link in the answer to King of the Hill didn’t seem plausible.
    Very good quiz.

  7. Woodshed December 18th, 2014 7:41 pm

John: Argh! Dagnabbit. Fixed now. Sorry about that. Everyone award yourself one more point!

  8. Dave December 18th, 2014 8:12 pm

    15. Must try harder.

  9. Mark December 19th, 2014 9:29 am

20 – counting the dubious extra point awarded for all, even though I didn’t even get Family Guy, never mind Harry Bloody Potter. OK, you can call that 19, but that does include Modest Mouse.

Thanks for this and for keeping me entertained and informed all year.

  10. Woodshed December 20th, 2014 12:10 pm

Dave: I first read your url as UkuleleLego so clearly I’m the slow one around here!

Mark: Modest Mouse is worth about 40 bonus points.

  11. Liz Panton December 20th, 2014 2:23 pm

    15 :-)

Had to use my toes to count down the frets to get to Dm and I cheated by looking up some of the K brands – but Googling “ukulele looks like a radio on a stick” didn’t do me much good so I missed the KoAloha!

I thought the heavy breathing on 29 might have been meant to be a subliminal clue – I didn’t have a clue anyway :-)

Thanks for the quiz Al – fun and I learned stuff too.

  12. kwokkie December 20th, 2014 11:33 pm

    16. Same score as last year!

  13. Woodshed December 21st, 2014 1:00 pm

Liz: Thanks! If you’d Googled “ukulele that looks like a jukebox” you might have got it!

kwokkie: How remarkably consistent of you!

  14. littleuke December 21st, 2014 6:04 pm

My score was *perfect*. Same as last year : )

  15. Woodshed December 22nd, 2014 8:06 am

littleuke: I would expect nothing less!

  16. Joan December 23rd, 2014 10:01 pm

16! One better than last year! Proud that I got Modest Mouse. <3

  17. Woodshed December 28th, 2014 10:16 pm

    Joan: Congratulations!

  18. Steven Strauss January 8th, 2015 5:52 pm

Clearly I don’t watch enough TV or listen to music written after I was born or keep up on product lines to score well. I find it horrifying that knowing movie stars on sight was what kept me from a score of nine. At least I knew the first five. To me that was the least trivial part.

Any special credit available for knowing Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart wrote #12? I’d like to get to 15/30 somehow.

Yeah, #24 is doing the instrument no favors, to echo a previous sentiment.

  19. John Dixon January 9th, 2015 1:24 pm

Christmas came very late for me this year!! Just completed the quiz got 16 right.

More than surprised to find our crowd, the Otley Ukulele Orchestra featured in the quiz, you must look at loads of ukulele stuff on the net.

  20. Woodshed January 9th, 2015 8:46 pm

Steven: Definitely a few extra points for knowing that!

John: Congrats! A pleasure to feature you. I do watch a fair amount!

  21. Lesley whiteley January 9th, 2015 10:11 pm

lets make 2015 the year of the Ukulele !

  22. Woodshed January 10th, 2015 1:45 pm

Lesley: Every year is Year of the Ukulele round my house.
