For your halloween specials (again apologise if they don’t translate to the uke)

    Tubular Bells – Mike Oldfield
For whom the bell tolls – Metallica
London Bridge is Falling Down – for the theme of Halloween 3
    Ghostbusters!

Thanks for these riffs, this has been great fun! Now I can run out and be the life of the party! (Or the laughing stock, I’m not sure which…)

Spooky song suggestion – Spooky Uke by Michael Wagner!

    Nice Riffs! TYVM!

How about “Acid Police” by the boredoms? Or “Space Junk” by Devo? the theme from “The Munsters” has a GREAT guitar riff, eh?

    keep up the good work.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ll get to work on these.

For the new riff list, how about Something by the Beatles? I just play it as open, C, open, C7, Cmaj7, C, but I’m sure you could come up with something much more interesting.

Roky Erikson did a lot of neat Halloween type songs. I suggest I Walked With a Zombie, or If You Have Ghosts.

My traditional Halloween listening always includes Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”.

  11. Woodshed October 7th, 2007 11:16 pm

Thanks for the suggestions. I have no idea how to make Bela Lugosi’s Dead work on the uke but I’ll have some fun trying.

I happened on this post by accident! Fun! I’d like to propose Blister in the Sun. That one translates to uke pretty easily.

  13. Woodshed November 11th, 2007 10:30 am

That’s a good suggestion, edegoly. It’ll probably turn up in the next batch of riffs.

  14. Space November 17th, 2007 5:37 pm

Hey. Awesome stuff, I had fun playing them.

A suggestion for the 20-10 list: Come As You Are by Nirvana, it’s pretty simple and it sounds great (imo).

  15. Woodshed November 17th, 2007 10:48 pm

Thanks, Space. I’ve just finished the 20. Come As You Are isn’t there. But it probably should be, Hmmm…

  16. Uke Hunt » The Allman Brothers - Jessica November 19th, 2007 6:21 pm

[…] Monday, I’ll be kicking off numbers 20 to 11 in my series of guitar riffs for the ukulele. I’d tabbed this out for inclusion but decided it wasn’t really a riff. It is, however, […]

  17. Uke Hunt » Guitar Riffs for Ukulele: 20. Violent Femmes - Blister In The Sun November 20th, 2007 6:09 pm

[…] from the computer this week, so I thought I’d launch into the next series of posts in the top guitar riffs for ukulele. These aren’t the riffs that work best on the uke but those that are most recognisable, fun […]

For the Halloween list do “this is Halloween” Marillyn manson cover style. Not original. even though they are kind of the same.
