Electric Six - Gay Bar

Are Electric Six still going? Apparently, they released an album last year. I had no idea.
Back in 2003 they were the hottest band in the UK. The singles Danger! High Voltage and Gay Bar shot to the top of the UK chart. Danger! boasted backing vocals from Jack White but Gay Bar had the best guitar riff I’d heard in decades and one of the most disturbing videos I’ve ever seen.

See this is what I think is gonna be great about doing this series!
Not only do we get to play the riffs on the Uke but also to launch monolithic arguments as to the inclusion of them in a ‘Top Ten Guitar Riffs List.’
So, ball rolling - What the bleedin’ is this doing in the list, following on from the mighty ‘Iron Man?!’
Discuss!
I’ll level with you. I’m making this list up as I go along. I do think Gay Bar is a fantastic riff though. And if you think that’s bad, I’m fairly sure Girls Aloud are going to make the list at some point. I don’t want everything on the list to be by hairy blokes from the 60s and 70s.
I’m willing to agree that Iron Man could be higher. The main reason it’s at 10 is because Sabbath will crop up again. No prizes for guessing which song.

Electric Six played my local flea pit (Fibbers) in York recently.
Have you also heard the Artic Monkeys version of Girls Aloud’s Love Machine. Works fab on ukulele.
Good to know Electric Six are still going.
Yeah, I have heard the Monkeys’ version. Love it. Two of my favourite groups at the moment combined.
The Artics are great for ukulele and I get to work on my snarly Yorkshire accent too…
