Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra – It’s a Heartache (Chords)
You can hear this track on their MySpace.
I thought I hated this song. What I actually hated was Bonnie Tyler’s voice because I love the version by WIUO, everyone’s favourite ukulele orchestra (well, everyone who matters).
The best part is the intro with one uke playing the melody and one uke providing fingerpicked backing.
If you have no friends, you can still fill in your own chord accompaniment if you move the melody around a little. For example, you can play bars five and six like this:
Buy their EP on the WIUO website.

yay for welington ukulele orchestra, their version of the bucket is pro
They are great. I need to do one or two of their other songs.
You could gravel your driveway with Bonnie Tylers voice. :)
Even though the chords for my favourite Kings of Leon/WIUO track ‘The Bucket’ are already out in the wild, its not a song that works particularly well with just on uke. It would be nice to have the tab for some the other uke parts
“WIUO, everyone’s favourite ukulele orchestra (well, everyone who matters).”
AMEN!!! Also, their version of “Weather With You” is sweet-as (to use the kiwi vernacular).
hell yes. Thank you sooo so much again, I was hoping you’d post these to share. Very exciting.
there lastest ‘christmas’ EP is awesome. all the songs from the whitcouls ads pretty much.
ruby is my favourite.
I feel so privileged to have gone to their first Winter workshop. I highly recommend them as teachers. They taught me so much in such a small time. Love this song btw.
The WIUO inspired my friends and I to buy each other ukelele’s for XMAS. For the last month we have been playing Ruby along to the CD, having great fun. Would love to know where to find the ukele tab to Israelites and others on the CD. Thanks for the inspiration!
George: I’ve got a week dedicated to the WIUO coming up. I haven’t decided exactly which tunes I’ll be doing yet but Israelites is a contender.
The Israelites!! That would be amazing!
What’s the strumming pattern for this one?
Billy: If in doubt try d – d u – u d -
Totally agree with you – Bonnie Tyler used to ruin Top of the Pops for me every week when I was little!! Same goes for ‘Africa’ – hated that song too but LOOOOOVE the WIUO version. :-)
Thanks WIUO for rockin’ Dunedin recently.
Ali: They do quite a few that beat the originals.
