Sophie Madeleine – Take Your Love With Me (The Ukulele Song) (Chords)

Sophie Madeleine – The Ukulele Song (Chords)
Sophie Madeleine might have hit it big with The Beard Song, but I think this song is a really impressive piece of songwriting. There are quite a few ukulele songs around that could have been written on any instrument. But I think this one could only have come out of a ukulele.
There are a lot of traditional ukulele touches in the chord progression: the move from C to E7 (familiar from Five Foot Two), the use of diminished chords, the I7 chord (both of which are classic George Formby tricks). But it doesn’t sound dated and kitsch at all.

This is up on YouTube also. Sweet.
What’s a good strumming pattern here?
How do you play the Bbdim chord? I think you might have missed it from the top of the page!
Welcome back! I didn’t realize how addicted I was to this website until you left for a little while. I guess it’s time I thanked you for your hard work, so thanks!
Paul: Thanks.
Chris: Try d u d u (bold indicates emphasis).
Kelsi: Oops. Bbdim is the same as Edim. Thanks for letting me know.
Christina: Thanks, Christina. It’s good to be back.
It’s obviously working for some people, but I get a 404 when I try to download the PDF. :(
David: Try it now.
Lurvly song I liked it so much I paid hard earned dosh for it!
Great! I was wanting for this one! Thank you, Woodshed! (How about more chords of songs by Sophie, like, for instance, I can’t hel myself?).
I meant: I Just Can’t Stop Myself (From Writing Love Songs About You)
Loved this song and can’t wait to learn it. Thanks so much!
The lyrics remind me of that wonderful song by Cliff Edwards, “If I had you”; the beginning is almost a naïf paraphrase of Edwards’ refrain:
«I could climb a snow-capped mountain,
sail the mighty ocean wide,
I could cross the burning desert
if I had you by my side»
Thanks for these chords. Great song and I appreciate you taking the time to put this together!
fuzzytnth3: I liked it so much I paid more than necessary for it.
Marcelo: I might do The Stars at some point.
Beth: You’re very welcome.
Alvaro: Good point. Definitely a similar lyrical theme.
That tune just yanked my heart out and replaced it with kittens and gumdrops. Wow.
Hello there, I am a newbie, but I just wanted to say thanks so much for your website and introducing me to Sophie’s music. I am trying to teach myself how to play and I find in the absence of a teacher your website has been most helpful. Thanks so much.
I haven’t listened much to Sophie’s stuff since I bought this very album, but my word this song is catchy.
Just one thing Woody – is that edim right? I couldn’t get it to sound right and looking through my chords sheets it says that your variation is the e(flat)dim – edim on mine is simply A string 1st fret and C string 1st fret.
It’s no matter, because I was struggling to finger it anyhow and just play the second variation. it sounds near-enough for my liking. :)
Byjimini: I’m pretty sure the Edim is correct. It’s definitely an Edim (Ebdim would be 2323). But 0101 is and Edim chord as well. 0101 and 3434 both have exactly the same notes in.
Huzza! ^_^
Adding another request for chords to The Stars :) Have been trying to figure it out forever but am having no luck.
Emily: I think there’s a good chance it’ll happen at some point.
Ummmm…I think I’m in love with her.
Thanks, Al!
Emily: I’m pretty sure you’re not the only one.
yo sophie my uncle daniel manages you!
p.s. u rock!
